Funded by the County of San Diego Alcohol & Other Drugs Program, the Social Access Work Group works within the San Diego County Binge & Underage Drinking Initiative.
The goal of the Social Access Workgroup is to change social norms around youth access to alcohol. This change occurs through:
- recruiting strategic partners
- organizing community groups
- building youth leadership
- media advocacy.
To track the progress and impact on the community and determine the most effective way to engage strategic partners, the workgroup:
- administers parent surveys
- tracks law enforcement citations
- engages youth in policy-focused strategies
- conducts community and parent presentations
- utilizes media advocacy to draw light to underage drinking
- collaborates with other leading organizations that are also addressing underage drinking.
